NO-GAP & KNOWN-GAP

Dr Chowdhury is a registered Surgical Provider with all the health funds, including:

Medibank Private, BUPA, HCF, NIB, AHM, Teachers Health Fund, Defense Health, AHSA Funds.

Dr Chowdhury has a special Clinical and Academic interest in precise and accurate corneal and cataract microsurgery. He completed advanced surgical training, both in Sydney and London. The latest equipment is available for scanning and operating on the eye to ensure the best surgical outcomes.

Because of his specialised interest in this area of Eye Surgery, Dr Chowdhury is registered as a registered surgical provider with all of the major Private Health funds in NSW for Cataract and Pterygium Surgery.

For patients requiring Cataract Surgery that have an Age-Pension card and are covered by their health fund – Dr Chowdhury has a No-Gap arrangement with all the private health funds, and does not charge any gap for cataract surgery.

For all other patients requiring cataract surgery , Dr Chowdhury has a “Known-Gap” arrangement with all the private health funds, and charges a maximum out-of-pocket gap of $500 for cataract surgery.

For the initial consultation and assessment, as well as preoperative measurements and preparation, this occurs in the consultation rooms, and is not covered by your private health fund. Medicare rebates partially cover the costs of these visits, but there is an out-of-pocket expense.
